Monklands Hospital

After promising a much-needed new Monklands Hospital in 2017, with the building not fit for purpose, the Scottish Government spent years dithering and delaying the new hospital to 2031.

Then in June, just weeks after the Scottish elections, the SNP shelved plans for a new building at Hospital indefinitely.

This decision is an absolute disgrace, and you can follow here as I make my representations to campaign for the new Monklands Hospital we all deserve.

Campaigning for Monklands Hospital

The SNP’s decision to indefinitely shelve the new Monklands Hospital is a betrayal of people in Lanarkshire who deserve first class health facilities.

Earlier this evening I joined local people and the Stand Up For Monklands campaign, launching a petition demanding just that.

It was great to join Cllrs Chris Costello, Michael McBride, Andrew Bustard, Sophia Coyle and Jim Logue, Joe Fagan MSP and fellow Labour MP Kenneth Stevenson at the launch of the public petition for a new Monklands Hospital.

It was fantastic to see so many members of the public out too.
